A quiet person by nature, I am happiest when creating. From the time I could hold a pencil I have been busily making things for others; from my earliest drawings to handpainted t-shirts to the first incarnations of my jewellery. The power of self-expression through art has driven me throughout my life and given me a unique connection to others.
A detour through university resulted in a biology degree and a collection of insects that were used as inspiration for my first line of jewellery. Soon after graduation I began training with silversmiths and discovered that creating jewellery was my life’s passion.
In 2002 I became a full-time independent jeweller. My company, Mikel Grant Jewellery, reflects my personal standards for integrity in craft, technique and finish. I attend to artistry as well as wearability.
In 2014 my partner Kelly James and I used our 25th anniversary as inspiration to relocate from Vancouver to Sechelt where we created a unique studio in our home surrounded by forests and wildlife. Our partnership and devotion to each other brings warmth, creativity and beauty to our designs.
Mikel Grant Jewellery is handmade on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
